Happy Easter from our neck of the woods to yours! Wishing everyone a wonderful day filled with friends, family, and chocolate bunnies.

This flower is balsamroot, which is blooming prolifically in the eastern reaches of the Columbia Gorge right now. The wind was blowing pretty hard last weekend when this was taken. I think it almost looks like the petals are waving at me.

Amazing capture, Cari! The sap from these stems make a great natural antiseptic. They are also nutritious to eat. You can even make flour from the roots. :) What a great plant!

Lovely photo! Not surprised it was windy out there– often is. I’m looking forward to getting out there soon to see the flowers at their peak.

It’s a rare day the east wind isn’t blowing through the Columbia Gorge. Hope you made it out to see the flower show yourself!
